The historic Thousand Pillar Temple (TPT) at Hanamkonda town will complete 850 years of existence on Saturday. According to a Shasanam on a stone pole at the TPT, Kakatiya ruler Rudradeva constructed the temple and installed the Rudreshwara Mahalingam on January 19, 1163. Rudreshwara Seva Samithi and devotees are demanding that the government should take steps to protect the temple and allocate budget for preserving the temple. They are also demanding that the East entrance should be opened for the benefit of pilgrims.
The historic Ramappa Temple has also completed 800 years of existence but has developed cracks due to the Devadula Tunnel works at Palampet village. The district administration has not taken any steps to protect the historic temples in the district. Archeological Survey of India ( ASI) authorities stopped the digging work at Ramappa temple due to news reports about the cracks appearing in the temple.
