The Hyderabad Metro Rail project will provide 50,000 jobs for young people from the old city, Secunderabad and 12 municipalities. The HMR authorities have decided to give local youth top priority in employment in the Rs 14,132-crore project that has triggered a lot of economic activity. Even GHMC wants the HMR to participate in its job mela. HMR’s managing director N.V.S. Reddy said that there are 2,500 jobs for qualified engineering graduates. “We want to give priority to the local youth, but the selection will be based on interviews,” he said. Those who have little knowledge of reading and writing will be given a three-month training to become masons, carpenters, bar-benders and electricians. Interested candidates can apply at HMR Bhavan in Saifabad.
