The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on Sunday reopened NTR Gardens and Sanjeevaiah Park on Necklace Road for general public after 12 days. The parks were closed after the twin blasts in Dilsukhnagar on February 21. Speaking to the media at NTR Gardens, HMDA member (environment) Kajaria and deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Central Zone, VB Kamalasan Reddy said security measures like surveillance cameras and other gadgets were installed to prevent any untoward incidents at the parks.
Based on police advice, HMDA has installed several door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) at NTR Gardens and Sanjeevaiah Park and provided hand-held metal detectors to security guards. “All the 130 private security personnel guarding these parks have been trained in anti-sabotage measures by the city security wing officials,” the DCP said. The officials said Lumbini Park would also be thrown open soon after enhancing its security measures like CCTV coverage and installation of DFMDs.
